The Atomic Dashboard App Reviews
Whoever is studying any level of chemistry or is just curious, this is the best app to use. Wow I cant even list all the different functions that it has. The description is very humble compared to how useful this app is. Im studying for my chem 217 final and this is one of the most helpful tools Ive been using to understand each element. Very very very detailed. AMAZING.
Working fine but...
The application is working fine but has limited features (you cant build your own model, no virtual lab on Mac).
This program is really extremely useful. Very handy for a quick reference of the periodic table, but also has TONS of information (including molecule examples) for each element. Simple to use, very stable. Actually very worth the price, once you see how much info it has! Kinda, everything you want really. THANKS to the developers! :-)
Where was Atomic Dashboard when I was in school? Im not a science nerd yet I LOVE this app! It makes the complicated and esoteric simple and relevant. Looking forward to my son taking high school chemistry so that I can share this amazing tool with him. If every high school supplemented their text book with this app the USAs standardized science test scores would soar.
My son purchased this ap for me as a birthday present. I teache HS Chemistry. I love it. The videos from you tube are an excellent touch that gives more insight to the element in a different way. I like that you can see the configurations and the models. I have my students memorize most of the periodic table and this is just the ticket for the information that is relevant. Using the bp/mp reference points will be helpful for students when determining unknown elements during labs. The electron configuration models, with a lot of my students being visual learners, will also help them see and differentiate the elements.
Quite a capable tool -- I can see uses at many levels of teaching chemistry. It goes far beyond just the typical periodic table info. Cheers for the 3D atomic orbitals to demonstrate electron configuration, and the 3D Lewis structures are quite unique and should be helpful to general chemistry students learning VSEPR. Our organic chemistry students should find the 3D molecule library very helpful.
The atomic dashboard is still the app that is always open when Im working on chem. And now that Im about to start organic, Im excited about the new 3D molecule library. Ive already had fun searching for funky molecules. The first one I found? Benziodiazepine, which we just studied in neuro. The lone pair feature is nice - helps make sense of vsepr, which was a little fuzzy the first time around.
When you first start using it it can be a little confusing. Sit down and figure it out! Trust me, its worth it! Im taking organic chem this semester and I wish I would have found this app at the beginning. Very helpful visuals that you can easily move around to view in a 3-D sort of way. Ive looked up over twenty different chemical formulas and have yet to find one that isnt in the 3-D molecule library. Also has a very neat periodic table that can be viewed in many different ways. Very stoked on this!
What a great tool for visualizing complex molecules - Ive been looking for something like this. Chemistry can be a difficult subject because it is such a visual experience……..imagining how electrons, atoms, and molecules behave from qualitative descriptions in textbooks can be a challenge. As I imagine how science education will be affected by technology in the future, I can fairly say that science will benefit greatly by applications like this. Great job to the folks at Bitwixt for this app.
Great app
Really nice and fairly straightforward app. It keeps chemistry at the forefront of my mind and hopefully will benefit my undergraduate studies.
While this app has been extremely useful and worth the money- even in the short few days Ive had it- I feel like this app is a more powerful tool than I realize and I am not sure how to unlock its full potential. Maybe it just takes time… still, I rate this app perfect- thanks
This app does OK, but what would be helpful especially for the search mode in the 3D models would be a toolbar or even a button to do sub numbers. Occasionally the search doesnt recognize numbers in line with the letters as sub numbers. Ex. Formaldehyde CH2O is not recognized when you type in CH2O, but when Formaldehyde is input it is recognized. only thing keeping from 5 star review. Another thing that would be helpful is chemical equation balanching feature. overall a solid app for a college student even getting into upper level Chem classes.
I taught chemistry for 45 years at both the high school and college level and have invested a great deal of my own money on software. The Atomic Dashboard is one of those applications that is definitely worthwhile purchasing. For a teacher it is a great presentation tool and visualization aid, for students it is a great way to investigate and learn some pretty solid chemistry.
The Atomic Dashboard is a tour de force. It is exceptionally easy to use and is packed to the brim with useful information. The information provided for each element in the periodic table is very detailed and presented in an intuitive and informative fashion. The app has plenty of detail for scientific use but is also accessible and user-friendly enough that students of all ages will enjoy using it. It also includes a very fast and responsive 3D Molecule viewer and the ability to download complex molecules of interest from an online database for viewing. Perhaps my favorite feature is the collection of current news articles involving elements and molecules, for each one you can click on the molecule and load it into the 3D viewer - this would be tremendously useful in the classroom and for those homework assignments where the teacher assigns each student an element and asks them to find a news article about it. One of the things that has impressed me is the speed of the application - all of the information is available immediately with no long load times. It is very fluid and seamless to use. Every time I use it I am impressed with the way the information is presented and the obvious thought and care that went into building the app. Extremely well done!
Advice
Love it! Would love to be able to also name the molecules or put them in files that I can name to catorgorize them for studying.
I love this app, it helps me out so much in my chemistry courses, one of my favorite features is the news button with fascinating advances in science mostly relating to some sort of chemistry. Also in relation to all the elements, it has a lot of very in-depth information including percent abundance, isotopes, who and when they discovered it plus much more. Furthermore, the 3d atom display is so helpful with understanding connections and how they function. Highly recommended, worth every penny.
One of the best iOS periodic table apps
I am impressed by the amount of curated information present in the app. The external links to YouTube are also impressive. If you need quick information regarding the elements, this is the app for you.
Does not work on my mac
I do not know why, it just does not work on my mac. Maybe it does not support Big Sur.
A help to chemistry students of any age!
This is a great app. Lots of useful information. Seems basic at first but then as you explore it further, you discover that it is packed with details that enrich the study of general and organic chemistry. I only wish this had been around when I was in college. The download from the Apple App Store would not load successfully at first. Although this was an App Store issue, I reached out to Bitwixt Software support and was contacted by a helpful agent within minutes of my email. I am impressed beyond words.
Only first ionization energy
An aspect essential for my work is to have the ionization energies, preferably for all the ionization stages. This app does not have it. So I just wasted 10 bucks.
No 64-bit App...
Please compile a version for 64-bit macOS. Since 10.14.1, users are told to contact developer to upgrade their SW.
